I started hang gliding in the summer of 2013. Since then I’ve passed my elementary pilot (EP), club pilot (CP) and had the chance to fly the south of Spain for a week . I’ve stated a Youtube channel to document my flights.
It all started when I went travelling to New Zealand. I saw a poster for tandem hang gliding and just knew that was exactly what I wanted to do. I had my first hang gliding experience with pilot Kazuhiro Senda (pictured above) and absolutely loved it. He manoeuvred the glider in such a way that it was like being on a rollercoaster except 100 times better and without the violent shaking and head banging into the side of your seat. In fact you can see exactly how good it was in this video.
This tandem hang gliding company in Queenstown NZ flew from Coronet Peak. It would also be where I first met my instructor and good friend Matt. What are the chances! He was in NZ working as a tandem pilot.
I always had recurring dreams as a child that I could fly. I would run down my street, jump and I’d be away flying above the rooftops. I think it comes from watching Peter Pan! I was hooked with the sense of freedom I had, to be able to move in all directions, up, down, left and right. So when I saw that poster for hang gliding I just knew I had to do it.
